Welcome to the Cherokee County Georgia Democratic Party's website
We, the members of the Democratic Party of Cherokee County, Georgia, are committed to supporting a Party open to all Cherokee County residents who choose to identify with the Democratic Party, its ideals, and its principles. We are committed to the principles and discipline of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
The Cherokee County Democratic Party values the individual, favors the organized Party District, encourages the expression of ideas, and pledges to hear all who would speak.
We specifically value diversity of persons and ideas. We believe in the inclusion of all, and we are proud of the inclusive history of our Party. Although individual differences and chance will produce different outcomes, we believe that all persons are created equal and deserve equal access to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – including quality education and affordable housing as well as economic and political opportunity. We believe that all citizens should have the opportunity to cast votes that will be counted. We believe that labor must be properly valued as an economic partner to capital rather than as an economic commodity.
We generally prefer a complementary public-private partnership solution to socioeconomic issues, and we prefer that such solutions be framed for the common good, as measured from the perspective of benefiting the many rather than from that of the privileged few. We believe we must respond to the needs of the least of us when making decisions and in cases of forced choice, we prefer the occasional inefficiencies of government to the frequently demonstrated greed of the private sector. We do not consider the government to be the enemy so long as it is a government of the people, by the people, for the people, and so long as it is a government of laws. We strive to insure that no one is denied equal access to and protection by government, whether that government be national, state, or local.
The foundations of a well-functioning democracy are an educated and informed public and a broad middle class. We therefore maintain that access to quality education and economic opportunity should not be conditioned by geography, wealth, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. Furthermore, we hold that a politically active citizenry is essential for maintaining a genuine democracy.
If you feel the same way, then we invite you to join us and if you're not already, become politically active.
