1.     Sen. Ossoff Urging DoD to Protect Civilian During Military Operations

May 28, 2025 – Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is urging the Department of Defense (DoD) to protect civilians during military operations.

Sen. Ossoff led a group of Senators urging Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to protect the Civilian Protection Center of Excellence at DoD to minimize civilian deaths during combat.

According to a report by The Washington Post, the center’s senior leadership was instructed that the Pentagon was moving forward with plans to halt all civilian harm mitigation work, including winding down the center and firing or reassigning nearly 170 personnel who advise military leaders on limiting noncombatant casualties.

Sen. Ossoff is joined by Sens. Peter Welch (D-VT), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Adam Schiff (D-CA), Patty Murray (D-WA), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Tina Smith (D-MN), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

“Minimizing civilian casualties in warfare is a moral duty and a strategic imperative,” Sen. Ossoff and the group wrote to Defense Secretary Hegseth. “We remind you that the Civilian Protection Center of Excellence (“the Center”) was established by Congress and the law requires you to operate it.”

“Reducing civilian casualties in warfare is an obvious moral imperative necessary for its own sake. But it is also a strategic imperative,” Sen. Ossoff and the group continued. “The credibility of U.S. foreign policy flows not just from our raw military power but also from our reputation as a nation that values innocent life and protects noncombatants.”

3.     El Senador Ossoff Presiona a la Administración Trump para que Investigue los Mensajes Racistas Dirigidos a Jóvenes Hispanos en Georgia

May 28, 2025 – Washington, D.C.

4.     Senator Ossoff Presses Trump Administration to Investigate Racist Messages Targeting Hispanic Youth in Georgia

May 28, 2025 – Washington, D.C. — The US Senator. USA For Georgia, Jon Ossoff is lobbying the Trump Administration to investigate a racist text message campaign targeting Hispanic youth and other Georgia communities.

Senator Ossoff is again putting pressure on the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the US Department of Justice. USA (DOJ) to thoroughly investigate racist and threatening text messages directed at Hispanic, African American, and LGBTQ youth in Georgia.

Senator Ossoff pressed prior to the Biden Administration to investigate the threatening texts.

Since Senator Ossoff began his investigation, a report February NPR revealed that the texts came from 15 to 20 different phone numbers, which flooded free bulk text messaging services with vitriolic missives, aimed directly at vulnerable high school and university students.

“I am writing to follow up on my December 2024 request for the Justice Department to thoroughly investigate the massive racist text message campaign targeting African American, Hispanic, and LGBTQ people in Georgia, including children, in November 2024”, Senator Ossoff wrote to Attorney General Bondi and FBI Director Patel. “According to subsequent reports, the text messages could have been the result of a coordinated and sophisticated attack. In light of these reports, I request that you redouble your investigative efforts to identify the perpetrators of this hate campaign and hold them accountable”.

According FOX5 Atlanta Some messages suggested that African American recipients had been “selected to collect cotton ” and warned of the consequences if they did not comply. The victims, including a 14-year-old girl, and their families were terrified and in shock, prompting them to contact the authorities.

Later, according to Atlanta News First Threatening text messages were sent to high school students, including many Latino Georgians and some from the LGBTQ community.

Senator Ossoff continues to work to support victims of discrimination.

In February, a controversial program targeting African American travelers at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport was canceled after an investigation by Senator Ossoff.
