This week Senator Ossoff worked for us by:

1) Launching a push to pass the bipartisan Rural Health Focus Act, legislation he’s cosponsoring to continue improving and supporting rural health through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Office of Rural Health.

2) Urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to continue the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Election Threats Task Force, which helps protect Georgia’s election workers from ongoing threats of violence.

“Given the recent disturbing personnel and policy decisions at the Department and the lack of transparency about the future of the Task Force, we request an immediate update on the status and activities of the Task Force, as well as what resources will be provided to ensure its important work continues so that election officials of both parties can safely administer our elections,” Sen. Ossoff and the group wrote to Attorney General Bondi.

3) Introducing the bipartisan Preventing Child Trafficking Act of 2025 with Chuck Grassley(R-IA) to strengthen coordination between the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to prevent child trafficking.

According to a 2023 U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report, agencies within the Departments collaborate to prevent human trafficking broadly, but no mechanisms were in place to collaborate specifically on child trafficking prevention.

4) Pushing President Trump to rehire Georgians responsible for air and water quality.

Sen. Ossoff joined members of the Georgia delegation and other Southeastern members of Congress urging the Trump Administration to reinstate Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 employees who play a critical role in public and environmental health. EPA Region 4 is based in Atlanta, with divisions in Athens as well as Gulfport, Mississippi.

5) Urging the Trump Administration to swiftly distribute Federal economic assistance secured by Congress for Georgia farmers.

Last year, Sen. Ossoff successfully fought to pass a bipartisan disaster relief package that included $10 billion in economic assistance for farmers

The bipartisan package also included $21 billion in disaster relief, which will be released separately by USDA. This week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced it has opened applications for economic aid to farmers that Sen. Ossoff helped pass into law.

6) Pushing the Trump Administration to rehire CDC staff vital to public health.

Sen. Ossoff joined Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock and Senate colleagues urging U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to reverse course on recent decisions to indiscriminately fire critical public health employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

7) Pushing to restore funding for the Georgia Peanut Program that Trump froze.

Following the Trump Administration’s cuts to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Sen. Ossoff urged the Trump Administration to swiftly restore funding at the University of Georgia’s (UGA) Feed the Future Innovation Lab (FTFIL) to help Georgia’s peanut farmers strengthen yields and fight crop disease.
